EJL MEDITERRANEE QUARRY

A monumental project created within the quarry of Entreprise Jean Lefebvre Méditerranée (VINCI Group) to celebrate 50 years of operations.

The creation highlighted the site’s history and collective memory, paying tribute to the people, expertise, and initiatives dedicated to environmentally responsible operations within and around the quarry.

This unique evening combined a high-wire performance with a large-scale video mapping creation, conceived for the anniversary celebration. The project was developed in close collaboration with the initiating teams, ensuring a result fully aligned with their identity, values, and aspirations.

From Storyboard to Video Mapping

The storyboard phase remains a fundamental step in every project. For this anniversary edition, celebrating 50 years of expertise and 30 years of future ambition, close dialogue with the site’s teams helped define a narrative direction aligned with their identity and aspirations, bringing everyone together around a shared vision.

The creative concept drew inspiration from the history of the site, its industrial activity, the surrounding environment, and the people who work there every day. Themes of extraction, transformation, sedimentation, and metallurgy were explored, alongside a tribute to the teams, as well as the fauna and flora that inhabit the quarry both day and night.

The ambitious staging at the heart of the EJL Méditerranée quarry required an approach that was both rigorous and bold. Site surveys, topographic studies, and simulation work enabled each projection to be precisely adapted to the contours and scale of the location.

This technical challenge resulted in the deployment of 600 metres of cabling, a 150-metre slackline, an extensive lighting system, four high-performance video projectors, a dedicated control room, and the mobilisation of five specialised technicians, all implemented with the utmost respect for the site and without any permanent anchoring.
