Along the banks of the Saône, a mysterious vessel docks, carrying ancient trunks that open only in the presence of light. Each one unveils a poetic world: mythical birds restoring colour to forgotten emotions, a chameleon revealing the hidden beauty of the smallest details, and a legend rising from the river…
Suspended between dream and reality, this video mapping performance blends illustration, light, and storytelling to create a sensory and contemplative experience, where every façade becomes a living picture book filled with forgotten wonders.

From Storyboard to Video Mapping Projection
At the heart of Les Malles Persanes lies a deeply artisanal approach. Everything begins with the line and imagination of Thierry Pierras, whose original drawings form the raw material of the performance.
Patiently crafted by hand, these illustrations become the foundation for animation and light design, giving the project a rare sensitivity. It is this handcrafted process, rooted in the gesture of drawing. It gives Les Malles Persanes its poetic soul and human dimension, balancing contemporary light with the intimate emotion of the studio.
The Trophée des Lumières (Lights Awards)
The Trophée des Lumières, awarded by ICI Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the City of Lyon, was gifted to us for the creation Les Malles Persanes on Monday, 8 December, following a public vote recognising the work considered most outstanding.
The award was presented to Thierry Pierras and Caillou / Michael Varlet in the presence of Audrey Hénocque, First Deputy Mayor of Lyon, and Jacques Paté, Regional Director of France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for their support.
Audio description
To ensure the performance is accessible to all, an audio description is available.
Headsets will be provided on site, broadcasting an audio description perfectly synchronised with the show.
A dedicated staff member will be present to assist the audience and ensure the system runs smoothly.
You may also use your own smartphone and headphones via the QR code available at the welcome panel from 5 December. Simply start the audio at the beginning of the performance to follow the audio description in parallel.
